چکیده

Sodium cyanide samples which gave different colour yields with a given amount of uric acid were assayed for total cyanide and titratable alkalinity, but little consistent agreement was obtained. One commercial grade giving a low colour yield had a low assay and revealed traces of iron on analysis, the latter in the ferric form considerably reduces the colour yield of uric acid. Changes in alkalinity of the reaction mixture influence considerably the maximum optical density produced by a fixed quantity of uric acid. Several substances modify the colour reaction; the most significant in the assay of serum are the amino acids. Dilution of the test solutions has been shown to reduce this effect and to yield higher recoveries and subsequent higher assays.

A Simplified Process for Purification and Refolding of Recombinant Human Interferon-α2b

Background: Interferon α-2b is a vital biotherapeutic produced through the recombinant DNA technology in E. coli. The recombinant IFN-α2b normally appears as intercellular IBs, which requires intensive refolding and purification steps. Method: Purification of IFN-α2b from solubilized IB was performed using two-phase extraction. To optimize refolding conditions, the effects of pH and different a...

Intestinal transport of cystine and cysteine in man: evidence for separate mechanisms.

Cystine and cysteine are transported by energy-dependent, mediated processes in human gut. When either of these amino acids is transported, only cysteine is recovered intracellularly, indicating that cystine is reduced to cysteine after achieving an intracellular location. In contrast to results with cystine, cysteine uptake is not defective in gut from cystinuric patients, nor do lysine and ar...

Intestinal absorption of cystine and cysteine in normal human subjects and patients with cystinuria.

1. An intestinal perfusion technique has been used to study absorption in uivo of L-cystine and L-cysteine in six normal human subjects and three patients with homozygous cystinuria. 2. No significant absorption of L-cystine was detected during perfusion of the cystinuric patients, whereas L-cysteine absorption was normal. These results imply that L-cystine and L-cysteine are normally absorbed ...

Activated human CD4+ T cells express transporters for both cysteine and cystine

Because naïve T cells are unable to import cystine due to the absence of cystine transporters, it has been suggested that T cell activation is dependent on cysteine generated by antigen presenting cells. The aim of this study was to determine at which phases during T cell activation exogenous cystine/cysteine is required and how T cells meet this requirement. We found that early activation of T...
